My name is Chris Szablowski, founder of the ZIPO movement. I started ZIPO to lead the fight to establish ZERO interest student loans.

I graduated from Scranton University. Post graduation, I worked to pay my student loans off for years, watching my debt grow month after month as the loan continued to grow due to astronomically high interest rates. The student loan payment process was brutal, every late payment added more money I had to pay back. After several years, I finally paid off the loan, but at the expense of getting bad credit. At the end of it all, I ended up paying more interest than principal.

As I watched my friends go through the same struggles, some even worse off than I was, it began to dawn on me; the current student loan program is nothing more than a major profit opportunity for banks and an enabler for schools to charge high tuition.

There is no reason that banks should get free money from the government and then charge extremely high rates for students. The interest rates are paralyzing students and there is no reason that we should need to pay interest on top of an already expensive bill in order to receive an education.

Student loans are an investment, the government makes money as we graduate and make more money. They tax our earnings and pay back the loan sometime two times over throughout our lifetime while the government continues to make its money by taxation.

I need your help, we need to lobby Congress and the President, we need them to pass new laws. Together we can lobby every member of Congress. We need to get the message to the people. We must make this fight succeed.

The goal is ZERO interest loans for every student.
